Top UK Staycation Destinations and Tips

Staycations are more popular than ever. You don't need to go abroad to have a family break, the UK has so much to offer. Here are Easy2name's Top 7 favourite Staycation destinations that we enjoy visiting. 1. Cornwall We love Cornwall at Easy2name and make many visits there. We particularly like Tintagel, Port Issac and Padstow on the north coast and the Falmouth area in the south. Lands End and St Michael's Mount are definitely worth a visit, choose your times wisely as big tourist spots they will be busy at peak times. 2. The Lake district. Keswick, Ambleside and Widermere are our favourite haunts. Enjoy a boat ride across a lake, a visit to a slate mine or check out the Beatrix Potter attractions.Guaranteed family fun throughout the entire National Park. 3. Weymouth. With it's fantastic sandy beach and iconic red clock, it was recently voted to be the best British Beach (Travellers' Choice Awards, Trip Advisor), it really is a classic family holiday destination. Punch and Judy shows and donkey rides are still on the beach, so sit and enjoy with some fish and chips. 4. West Wittering. We love taking our doggies to this part of the West Sussex coast near Chichester, although some restrictions apply we love the open feel it offers. 5. Blackpool. Not just for it's illuminations. There's plenty of fun arcades, the pleasure beach and of course the Blackpool Tower to visit. 6. The New Forest. A lovely place to relax, camping here is ideal. Lots of cycling and walking, don't forget to keep an eye out for the famous New Forest ponies. 7. The Isle of Wight. Great Beaches and lots of fun attractions to keep everyone entertained. We particularly liked Osborne House (Queen Victoria's holiday home) and The Needles Landmark, where you must visit the Album Bay sand shop and Alum Bay glass. And here are some top ideas and tips so you make the most of your break. 1. Pick somewhere new that you've never been beforee. This way you will feel more like a real tourist. Check out the local tourist board for places to stay and visit. Stick a pin in a map and plan a great family break, be spontaneous, there really is so much to explore right on our door step. 2. Book Ahead. Booking in advance as much as possible can really help you save money on transportation, accommodation and activities. You could risk leaving it to last minute to see if you can get a late deal too but you will have a lot less choice and options. Camping really is the lowest cost accommodation if you are up for it and the weather is fair. 3. Visit free attractions. There are plenty of free museums, galleries, parks etc for families to visit throughout the UK. Do your research and find some fun family days out that don't cost a penny. Keep an eye out and find any vouchers for chain restaurants and visitor attractions, these really could save you a lot of money. 4. Prepare your own meals. Where possible take packed lunches with you on days out. Not only will it save you lots of money from buying over priced food at attractions but take a blanket with you too and you can have a lovely family picnic. Kids always love a picnic. 5. Label up. A pack of Easy2name wristbands could prove invaluable on the beach or at a theme park. Simply write a contact name and number on the inside and attach to your child's wrist. If your child does stray away, have a little comfort knowing someone will be able to contact you.
