Organise your Home in 2018

This January get the New Year off to a great start by having a good sort out and organise your home for the year ahead.

Try and get the whole family involved so you aren't tackling everything single handily and everyone feels some ownership to the running of the family home. Firstly have a good declutter. Throw things out, go to the tip and pass what you can onto charity. Be ruthless, if you haven't used it in the last 6 months (unless it's something particularly sentimental or seasonal) you are unlikely to use it again so pass it on. Organise everything to have a home.

Invest in some storage boxes, more cupboards or shelves so that everything can be put away and not build up on the surfaces. Colour coding can be a real help, assign a colour to every family member and put colour stickers on each others items, so everyone knows what is theirs at a glance and has no excuse to not tidy up after themselves.

Colouring coding can work well on calendars etc too so you can see quickly who is doing what, where and when. Invest in a good family organiser. There are plenty out there but ensure you get one that has a column for each family member, it really will help to keep on top of everyone's activities. Use your time wisely and most efficiently that you can.

Use your mornings more, get up that little bit earlier (therefore going to sleep earlier too) and start the day in the right mindset. Start with a hot drink and a plan of attack for the day, if you can prepare yourself before the children arise all the better. Start a chore chart; make it clear what everyone's responsibilities are and plan out a routine for all the household jobs to get done be that, monthly, weekly or daily. Children can get involved from a young age, start them off with simply jobs like picking up their toys, putting clothes away or emptying the dishwasher.

Preparation is key to a running a slick household. Do what you can the night before; like getting clothes ready, making lunches etc. You really will appreciate the extra effort you put in the next day when all is calm and no one is rushing around. Batch cooking is a great thing to implement, saving you time in the long run. Use Date Labels to keep track of the pre-prepared meals in your fridge or freezer. Good Luck. The Easy2name Team.
