Easy2name's Product Guide: The Nursery Essentials and How to Label Them

Sending your toddler or pre-schooler off to Nursery is a time full of emotion for parents and it can be pretty overwhelming. At Easy2name, we want to support new parents on this journey in anyway we can, so we’ve put together a helpful list of what to take to Nursery AND easy ways to ensure those belongings are kept safe and get back home at the end of the day, with our labelling guide.

What does my child need for Nursery/Preschool?

  1. Backpack

An essential to house all the other essentials. Having a backpack is a must for keeping your child’s belongings in one place from home to school and back again.

We recommend our Nursery Bag Tags for stylish and durable labelling. Although only £3.95, each metal tag can be personalised with multiple lines of text for names, addresses, telephone numbers and emails, and you can choose from 21 colourful designs that your little one will love (and want to show off to all their friends!)

  1. Lunchbox

To pack plenty of snacks in to fuel your little one’s brain! We offer custom Bento Boxes, the perfect size for breaktime, with a choice of bright, colourful designs and to be personalised with your child’s name so no lunchbox mix-ups for you!

Or, if you already have a lunchbox ready to go, our Bright & Brilliant Large Stickers are fantastic, full colour, waterproof name stickers that will withstand the dishwasher, steriliser, microwave and even freezer. These are £14.95 for 32 labels and can be used for bottles, beakers, lunchboxes, and other large, non-fabric items.

  1. Water bottle

It’s a good idea to invest in a spill-proof water bottle for your little one that’s also easy for them to open on their own so they can have a drink anytime during the day.

As above, our Bright & Brilliant Large Stickers work extremely well for labelling bottles. We also have Bottle Bands, made from silicone and designed as a reusable and removable way for parents and carers to identify their children’s bottles, beakers, and Sippy cups.

  1. Clothing

As well as the clothes they wear to Nursery, it’s a good idea to pack an extra set of underwear, and potentially trousers, for those emergency occasions.

Because pre-schoolers don’t tend to have a school uniform and therefore wear something different every day, this can seem like an overwhelming amount of clothes to label.

However, we have a time-efficient solution! Our Bright & Brilliant StickEasy Clothing Stickers are a no-sew, no-iron option – simply peel and stick to the care label of the garment – and they come in the same fab designs as our Bag Tags and Large Stickers. These name labels are washing machine and tumble dryer safe and are especially useful on things that can’t be ironed, like waterproof clothing.

For ‘tag-less’ clothing, we recommend our EasyStamp, another no-sew, no-iron option, which puts an ink imprint of the personalised text into an item.

Or our Iron-on Name Tapes work well as non-scratchy labels for items like socks.

  1. Shoes

It might be wise to send your little ones off with a few pairs of shoes each day, depending on the weather and what they’ll be getting up to. For example, they may need to walk with you to Nursery in their Wellies, then change into indoor shoes when they arrive, and have outdoor shoes, like trainers, ready for playtime.

With possibly three pairs of shoes for each child in the class, that’s a lot of potential for footwear to get mixed up and misplaced.

Our Stick-on Name Labels are a simple and reliable way to label every pair of shoes, especially when paired with our specially designed Transparent Shoe Label Covers which protect the name from wearing off. Get both together in our Nursery Labelling Value Pack (also comes with a sheet of clothing labels).

  1. Soft toy or comfort item

Packing your child’s favourite teddy bear or blanket can be a good way to ease their nerves at starting Nursery.

However, these are items are so precious and we certainly do not want to see them get lost, so we recommend using our clothing labels to name them.

It will depend on the size and type of item for which name labels are most suitable but with a range of clothing label solutions, they’ll be something for every teddy, blankie or other comfort item.

  1. Medication

For young children with allergies and medical conditions, it can be hard to express these to teachers and carers. It’s important that you inform staff of any allergies or illnesses your child has and give them the appropriate medication for when your child is at Nursery.

Keep your child safe with our Allergy Labels that will alert staff and carers of allergies or medical conditions and prevent reactions. These stickers can be stuck on lunchboxes or non-fabric medical kits and personalised with a name, medical details, and emergency information.

Medication bags can be labelled with our Bright & Brilliant Bag Tags and, for extra precaution, our silicone Safety Wristbands can be personalised with medical details and emergency contact information.

Overview

The key to Nursery essentials and labelling are ensuring your child is able to recognise each belonging. Toddlers and young children may not recognise their name yet, but our Bright & Brilliant labels and products recommended above are made so your little one can still recognise ‘their’ design. This means they can keep tract of their belongings and bring the right ones home at the end of the day.
