10 Ideas for Upcycling

Are you having a sort out? Don't throw it all away into land fill, here are some great ideas we've found on Pinterest to turn your unwanted or broken things into something new....

1. Mug bird feeder Birds won't mind if the cup is a little chipped as long as they are being fed. Why not try this idea out, you still get to look at your favourite tea cup or mug whilst doing something good for garden wildlife. Everyone's a winner.

2. Lego Frame Make a lego frame. Just before you chuck out all that lego, why not make a keepsake photo frame for your child or a gift for a friend. One of our team members made one for a wedding gift for a friend's lego themed wedding, with a little lego bride and groom on it. Who doesn't love a completely personalised gift.

3. Cake Stand Turn any old plates into cake stands using an egg cup or a strong glass to hold them up. What a great idea.

4. Bottle Lamp We all have plenty of empty bottles left after a party. Why not clean out one or two and put some battery operated fairy lights inside. It will not only provide some great lighting at your next party, but will be a fun talking piece too.

5. Revamp an Old Flowerpot Jazz up some old boring flowerpots by decoupaging them. Find some fun printed paper, could be old maps, newspapers, books, wrapping paper etc, and with lots of PVA glue go to town on decorating that pot.

6. Gift Tags Get organised and make your Christmas and birthday gift tags with any old fabric scraps or paper, cut out and make any designs you like.

7. Pin cushion We love this idea. We've seen quite a few pin cushions ideas, but putting it in a teapot lid is genius, as you get storage in the teapot itself for all those sewing little bits and pieces.

8. Bunting A great easy make for beginners. Turn any old bits of fabric into bunting for your next party.

9. Christmas Tree Decorations Again, using any old fabrics, why not try making them into decorations for your Christmas Tree, making your tree completely unique.

10. Teddy Bears Can't bare to throw out all those baby clothes? Try turning them into a new soft toy or cushion. There are plenty of instructions and ideas online so why not give it a go.

We hope this has given you some inspiration and ideas for upcycling. Do share anything you have made with us, we would love to hear what you have been up to.
